Comments: In 1931 Paris, a safecracker is framed for murder and given a life sentence in the labor camp located in French Guiana. Papillon meets Louis Degas, a rich counterfeiter. He protects Degas in exchange for money to fund an escape from the prison. He gets more than he bargains!

This is a remake. Like the original film, this one is based on an actual prison and Henri Charrière's autobiography. It is epic. Filmed in the Mediterranean.
