Comments: The magistrate of a remote frontier outpost of an unknown empire is keeping the peace. When a colonel arrives to confront the barbarian "problem", the compassionate magistrate witnesses the result of the colonel's interrogation of captured nomads. The colonel leaves to commence war, and the magistrate attempts to return life to normal.

This film is not easy to watch. Though, there are impressive landscape shots of the deserts of Morocco. Also, Johnny Depp presents a creepy character: a villain that one would love to hate. This movie is based on a novel. There are morals behind the story.
