Comments: The parallel timeline of Kirk's Enterprise crew is blurred in this story. An alien has a weapon that destroys life and, of course, he intends to launch it against the latest starbase. Only the Enterprise crew stands in his way.
This is the first movie that I've seen produced by two Chinese corporations, one is the gigantic Alibaba. I guess it was inevitable.
Simon Pegg, who got his start writing in Spaced, has co-written this story. It runs well and is action-packed. Since this is the third film--shadowing Star Trek III,--there are several remarks thanking Spock for being around. Clever touch.
