Comments: This film opens with a hilarious, witty scene. A woman lies to allow a non-religious man, due to be hanged, to escape. She intends to get some love out of the deal. He tells her to "wait in town, as long as it takes!" To avoid the pursing "posse", he takes a dead preacher's clothes & horse and continues on to the reverend's destination. There, he learns that the town is ruled by a tyrant. "What the hell?"

Like most good movies, this one is based on a novel. The dialogue is what makes this Western so excellent! The double entendre and the allusions spoken by the hero are amplified by the seemingly naïve townsfolk. The story goes on to be quite profound. Recommended!
