Title (Year): V for Vendetta (2006)Age: 18 yearsGRS Rating: 5 of 5Notable Cast: Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, John Hurt, Imogen PootsDuration: 2 hr, 13 minInfractions: None.Comments: I really enjoyed this movie because, like The Matrix, it portrays a future possibility. Drawn from the frequently fertile comic book world: a lone masked hero fights a fascist totalitarian government, which follows the George Orwell (1984) mold.
America has fallen into a civil war sparked by immigration and this fueled the rise of a power-grabbing Brit. Like in pre-Nazi Germany a strong sense of nationalism allowed this Big Brother leader to come to power across the pond.
I don't pretend to know the "Vendetta" story and I'm sure it has been changed to fit mainstream media. What I enjoyed about this movie is that it addresses a problem that constantly threatens society: "People shouldn't fear their government. Government should fear the people."Want more?
