Comments: The film opens with a man in a Renault being chased by a group of men in a Mercedes sedan. Fred drives the Renault into the Parisian subway and jumps on a train. He meets a woman who's willing to pay for some papers, which he has stolen. He's not happy with the money that Hélèna offers so he makes a daring escape into the underground world. She finds him. Hélèna's married to a rich man, and Fred's poor.

This Luc Besson film is definitely French. It has the silliness and is wholesome. It is mostly set in the subway, hence the title. This classic story of love features '80s music, wardrobe, hair, and excess. It is a time capsule of how I remember the '80s, just in Paris. Fun film!
