Comments: This documentary released by Sky TV in Britain explains the conception and effectiveness of the Lancaster bomber during World War II. The bomber nearly didn't come into existance. But, thanks to four Merlin engines--the same that powered Spitfires--, this legendary bomber was able to help win the war! I found it interesting that the crews chose themselves. Also, there's excellent footage of the original bombers. The sobering fact that the government and public didn't appreciate Bomber Command after the war is is stunning. After all, these men and this fantastic aircraft crippled, albeit temporarily, Nazi industry in The Dam Busters. Highly recommended!
