Comments: In 1916, Michael Collins sees most of his leaders shot as traitors against the Crown of England after the Easter Rebellion. The Irish are fighting to regain independence of their Republic. Michael takes up the fight but disagrees with the Irish Cabinet. When all the leaders are arrested, Michael and his friend Harry continue the rebellion. Can they perform another American Revolution, only nearly three centuries later?

This dramatic biography is based on the real man who created the Irish Republican Army--not to be confused with the Provisional Irish Army, which we read about in the news--and brokered the Irish Free State. This film reinforced Liam Neeson's love of his homeland, as depicted in Rob Roy. There is a lot to like about this film. The period automobiles, clothing, and sets are excellent. Also, I enjoy the title character's declaration: "Our only weapon is our refusal." The night of "Bloody Sunday" is shown. Michael Collins believed in Ireland and its people. Nothing more, nothing less. Excellent film!
