Comments: This TV documentary explains how Prohibition came to be, its effects on the American public, and eventually its repeal. The Volstead Act gave the Constitutional Amendment teeth and the ramifications were far and wide. It is well narrated by famous individuals like Tom Hanks. I learned a lot about this unique period of time. Ken Burns & Lynn Novick provide original video footage. It's a very impressive production.
