Comments: The Wrecking Crew was a talented musical ensemble that supported the major rock bands and TV programs in Los Angeles of the '60s and '70s. These session players backed up the rock groups. They created rifts for the bands, also. Many of them could play several instruments. The Wrecking Crew worked closely with Brian Wilson and performed a number of the latest Beach Boys songs instead of the band. A lot of times, they played the music that is so famous now. Here are a few of the big names that they helped: Sonny & Cher, Herb Alpert, The Byrds, The Monkees, The Righteous Brothers, Elvis, and many one-hit wonders. Their stories are related in interviews. Also, they played all the parts for The Association. When Glen Campbell, one of The Wrecking Crew guitarists, started his own group, he employed his friends, these session players. One of the only women in the Crew, Carol Kaye, wrote the bass part for "Wichita Lineman". This documentary is interesting. I was amazed how much this "group" created and performed. Their works far outnumber The Beatles. The film was created by one of The Wrecking Crew's son.
