Comments: A pensioner, Kempton Bunton, is being tried for the theft of a national painting. He pleads not guilty. Months before, in 1961, he's fighting the BBC over his television license. He claims that he's modified his TV set so that it only receives ITV, which he figures means that he doesn't have to pay the BBC television license fee. After he tries to get the press and Parliament involved in his cause, he decides to steal the painting to pay the license fees for retirees and veterans.

Mr Bunton is a complex character. That makes this film more than just a humorous heist. It's based on a true story. I like the tie-in with Dr. No.
