Comments: A New Hampshirite farmer is down on his luck, and the last straw is when he, Jabez Stone, accidentally spills a seed bag into a puddle. He's wishes for money. That's when Mr. Scratch appears and offers him wealth and good luck for seven years. What will this wish bring him?

I really like how Daniel Webster has struggled with the devil before. It makes the character more realistic. This film exemplifies the attitude in northern New England. I couldn't help but laughing with delight! The mother is very much a New Englander! I doubt that Cross Corner, NH exists; however, it lives in this film. I like that the opening credits present players "in front of the camera" and "in back of the camera". This film is based on a short story. It's very Pro-American. Highly recommended!
