Comments: Children have been murdered in a German city. No one knows who performed the heinous crimes. When Elsie doesn't return home from school, her mother is very worried. Elsie is met by a man who buys her a balloon, and she is later found dead. The police are working around the clock to solve the crime. So when the murderer writes to a newspaper stating that the murders will continue, a panic sets in among the public. Meanwhile a gang is planning a robbery.

This German film employs some unusual camera angles. It's one of Fritz Lang's first "talkies". The subject material is still valid in today's world. The ending is powerful.
