Comments: The film opens with a Hispanic teenager traveling two hours by bus to Pacific Palisades to attend the high school. He aspires to become a naval aviator. He meets a local girl while she picks up trash on the beach, as punishment. They fall in love. He believes that she's a party girl. The truth is much more upsetting.

This coming-of-age film is entertaining and powerful. Kirsten Dunst looks great and acts well. The Girl Next Door probably took inspiration from this movie.
