Comments: In 1960, the Soviet Union is building up its nuclear arsenal. The film opens with a Russian giving an envelope to a pair of young Americans who work in the embassy in Moscow. The CIA selects Greville Wynne, a British salesman, to make contact with that high-ranking GRU agent, Colonel Oleg Penkovsky. Wynne's understandable frightened; however, he wants to help his nation.

This spy film is well executed. I found it funny that the shots of 1960s London are old footage, and the shots of 1960s Moscow are new! The sequences in the Gulag are intense. Based on actual events.
