Comments: Life is pretty ordinary in post-war Pimlico, West End, London. It's a mostly bombed-out area, but life goes on. The final unexploded Nazi bomb, which is deeply buried--beneath a previously-destroyed old manor house--, will be exploded during a heat wave. Boys explode it whilst playing. A man falls down the hole and uncovers treasure belonging to the Duke of Burgundy. After defeat in battle, he escaped to England and set up an estate. The King of England recognized him and his realm in London. Since the charter was never revoked, the modern neighborhood declares its independence from Great Britain!

This humorous film isn't just about jokes. Though, they are a large part of this dark comedy. It describes how people respond during a crisis. It is light-hearted fun. The ending is particularly silly. Recommended.
