Comments: Mr. Chipping is hired to teach at a prestigious boys' school, Brookfield. His goal is to become headmaster. He's rather old-fashioned and a spoil sport. He maintains discipline; however, the boys don't like him. That is, until he meets a younger woman on a mountain in Austria. They marry, and he's popular with the students. Then, the Great War breaks out.

This old film takes some time to get going. If you watch with the state of mind of the late '30s, then it's enjoyable. This rather wonderful film is based on a novel.
