Comments: Long before being elected President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln was struggling to find his way. He helped a family of settlers, whose gift was a barrel of books. One of which was a law book. Could this book cause the emergence of a great leader? When an unruly fight breaks out, leaving a man dead; he knows he must help determine justice.
Wow, this film was released in 1939! It makes sense because the public needed a good leader to remember, one who could settle a mob! At that time, many Americans thought the war raging in Europe could be solved by calm words. The scene of Lincoln's talking down the mob is awesome. Thank you, John Ford!
