Comments: Johnny, a reporter, decides to pretend to be mad to gain admission to an insane asylum to uncover a killer in the institution. Can he win the Pulitzer Prize for the article that he will write? Johnny has the best headshrinkers helping him fake being insane. His beautiful girlfriend Cathy doesn't want to be part of his endeavor, out of fear that he will go mad. Cathy is, after all, a dancer in a nightclub. After four days, she grudgingly goes along with his plan, as his "sister", whom he "wants sexually". Johnny wonders if he'll maintain his sanity.

This film is probably most potent to its contemporaries. Still, I very much enjoyed it. I like the use of color in a mostly black-and-white film. I was impressed by a black man who hates black people, thinking he's white, has a KKK hood, and protests against blacks! This film would never be allowed to be released today. It's edgy, it's early '60s, it's full of life. And who killed Sloan in the kitchen?
