Comments: The film begins as a postman drives through the picturesque countryside of southwestern France. He delivers a letter to the mayor of Malevil, a small village. The mayor then goes into his wine cellar to discuss town business. That's when the lights go out, the radio stations stop broadcasting, and a tremendous wave of pressure and heat passes over them. They discover that thermonuclear war has destroyed nearly everything in the village. The small group tries to survive.
This post-apocalyptic film was inspired by a novel of the same name. It develops many important aspects: community versus individuals and the misuse of power. It's French and enjoyable. Recommended, if you watch this type of film.
