Comments: The Baltic Nation of Estonia was occupied by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. After the War, the Soviet Union moved in, and those men drafted by the Nazis were hunted by the Soviet Secret Police.

In this film, a fencing instructor is being tracked by the Police, so he moves from Leningrad to run the sports club in a small town. As would be expected, he soon begins teaching fencing again. His class learns about a competition in Leningrad. Will he allow them to enter, risking himself?

Endel Nelis led quite a life. His story serves as a reminder why government of The Soviet Socialist Republics was so crushing for individual choice. Fencing wasn't the sport of the proletariat. And how would a puppet state like Estonia allow such a sport to exist in one of its schools? Filmed in Haapsalu, Estonia where Mr. Nelis founded his fencing school. Highly recommended.
