Comments: Germany has annexed Austria. The farmers are trained for combat in the Nazi Army. Franz Jägerstätter refuses the Nazi monetary subsides. When he's called up, initially he decides to refuse to serve. This defiance endangers his wife and family. He joins the army but refuses to swear allegiance to Hitler. He trusts God as the Nazis try to break him. Meanwhile, the townsfolk shun his family.

This film centers around an actual man. The scenery is amazing! However, the film is very, very slow moving. His letters from prison feature in the film.
