Comments: For complicated reasons, the conflict in Vietnam has allowed a civil war to ignite in Cambodia. This bloody event led by communists, under Pol Pot, devastates the people of the southeast Asian nation. The U.S. government contributes to the destruction by bombing supposed locations of Khmer Rouge in Cambodia.

Sydney Schanberg, with the help of his translator and friend Dith Pran, try to bring the truth of the horrific "killing fields" (mass graves) to the American public. Sydney mistakes a time of stability and must leave without Dith. Will they ever meet again?

I didn't know about the Cambodian civil war and the resultant genocide. It was brutal with children enlisted to not only carry rifles but to "rat out" adults who "think". This film does a great job bringing to light the conflict. It was filmed in Thailand whilst the war was still in progress.
