Comments: A wealthy family is moving from Louisiana into the newly-open state of Texas. The daughter intends to marry a plantation owner. They lose their way and meet a wild-horse-collecting cowboy who helps them find their way. But this Irish "mustanger", named Maurice, is not well-received in town by the plantation owner, Captain Calhoun, who pays to have him taken out of the picture. The plot thickens when the daughter of millionaire, Louise, falls in love with the Irishman, and not the rich officer. And who, or what, is the Headless Horseman?

This Soviet Western film is exciting with unorthodox fight scenes. For instance, it may be the only Western where the duelling shooters run into a saloon on the sound a bell! Considering where it was produced, the sets are very impressive--with signs in English--and the costumes are detailed. Cuban actors also starred in this film. This unusual movie has a good sense of humor and is something to see. It's available, free of charge, on YouTube. It's based on a novel by Thomas Mayne Reid, an Irish author, who wrote adventures set in American West. A Soviet Western, wow!
