Comments: A young woman is returning home to 1959 Hawaii. She's graduated with a degree from a California university. More importantly, she's intent on marrying a native Hawaiian. Her elder brother will have none of it. Their family owns an entire island in the archipelago. Can she change his upper-class attitude? Or, is she doomed to follow his example?
This film is based on a novel. The setting and time period are as noteworthy as the conflict. Yvette Mimieux looks great throughout, and does a good job presenting a liberated woman. Contemporary cars move the characters around the island, which is always good!
