Comments: A silent man finds himself caught up avenging innocent murders. He only shoots in self defense, but, once provoked, he can outdraw almost anyone. As the film progresses, one learns why he is the way he is, and does what he does. In Utah, the time of the bounty hunter is drawing to a close. Law is moving in. Will this update spell the end for the hero?

The style of this Italian/French film--in Italian--takes a bit to get used to, but matures well. The characters are developed, and the struggle becomes obvious. The title character carries an unusual weapon for the time, a Broomhandle Mauser (Mauser C96). This movie was ahead of its time, doing a good job fitting a story to the Great Blizzard of 1899. Despite being set in Utah, this adventure was filmed in the Italian Dolomites. There's a political message in this film concerning the deaths of Che Guevara and Malcolm X.
