Comments: When a machinist learns that his foreman has been promoted, the machinist believes that he'll be made the new foreman. So, when another man, an immigrant, is selected, Frank Taylor is understandably disappointed. Frank is then approached by a co-worker with an invitation to join a secret organization determined to fight for jobs for Americans. After it's too late, Frank realizes his poor choice.

This role was one of the early ones for the rising star. His performance is stellar. What struck me is the fact that this movie is about a Ku-Klux-Klan-style group targeting immigrants. The subject matter is dark, which is not something that we commonly associate with '30s films. It is tastefully executed without losing any of the significance of the subject. Like Petrified Forest, this film shows Bogart's excellent acting ability before he "broke out".
