Comments: Mr. Overgård has grown accustomed to being stranded in the arctic. His plane crashed more than a month ago, and after overcoming the difficulties of arctic life; he's managing quite well. His daily schedule of tending the large SOS message, fishing, visiting his dead companion, and operating the distress beacon is beautifully interrupted by the arrival of a rescue helicopter. Unfortunately, the chopper crashes in the bad weather. Overgård rescues the co-pilot, a young mother. The pilot is killed, her husband. As the woman's health deteriorates, the Dane must decide if the long, open trek to a seasonal station indicated on the map from the chopper is worth the risk.

As with most man-versus-wild films, this one reveals much of the character with few words. I like that aspect. The strength of character is admirable, as is his dedication to a stranger. Of course, I enjoyed his methods of self-reliance. Also, the landscape shots of Iceland are spectacular. The climax may seem overly dramatic, but considering the situation it makes sense. Highly recommended!
