Comments: It's 1909 and the East is becoming civilized. Civilization is slow to come to the West, though. A gang of outlaws attack a ranch house, kill several people, and kidnap a young boy. They intend to hold Little Jake for ransom. The owner of the ranch requests that her estranged husband return. He, Big Jake, agrees to transport $1,000,000 in a chest to the kidnappers.

John Wayne stars with two of his sons and one of Robert Mitchum's. It's odd seeing automobiles next to horses and oil wells behind an Old West town!
