Comments: Grey, a car guy, restores a Trans Am (of "Bandit"-era) for a rich computer genius. On the way back from delivering the Pontiac, their automatic (self-driving) car goes haywire and crashes. He is paralyzed by highwaymen and his wife is killed right in front of him. Three months later, he's recovering--still paralyzed--in the near future world. The question is how will he avenge his wife from a wheelchair?

I like many parts of this film. I like how the studios are announced by a computer, no opening credits on the screen. That is a first for me. Something I really dislike is that this is yet another movie showing a militarized police using SWAT gear and UAVs (AKA "drones"). Of course, not to be out-done, the para-military employ micromachines like Crighton proposed in Prey. (That's a creepy novel.) Meanwhile, the general public is pacified by Virtual Reality (VR), because "it's less painful than the real world."

The guns installed inside human arms are new ideas. Loading bullets at the elbow is, well, different. I loved the Challenger that the main character drives! It seems a tribute to Vanishing Point! The cool and equally frightening ending is something to see! Creepy!

This film really tries to have the same impact as The Matrix, but this film is far too violent and angry to be similar. There are many warning signs suggested, about our civilization, by this film. Regardless, this movie shouldn't be passed up.
