Comments: The Day, a New York newspaper, is being sold to the competition. This deal essentially finishes the newspaper. The editor and his employees hold a wake for the 'paper. Meanwhile, a woman is fished out of the river wearing a fur coat and nothing else. A local gangster is under investigation for trying to buy an election. Is there a connection?

I really love the speech by Bogart about the free-enterprise of the press. The variety of the press is something that is relevant today as mass media takes over everything from newspapers to movies to web sites. Even this web site has felt the impact of mass media, because I needed to buy a certificate to allow secure connections (https). I highly recommend this film!
