Comments: Mysteriously, both a Russian and an American submarine are sunk in the Barents Sea. Of course, each nation suspects the other. As the nations escalate to war status, a freshly-minted, American submarine captain questions the reason for war.

This film tries to be The Hunt for Red October, except isn't as good. The visual effects are much easier today, too, with CGI. But important, real, things like security clearances and need-to-know are violated. Also, when does a submarine captain fire on another nation's ship without orders? This film is plagued by machioism. Imagine if an American teenaged boy was told to make a submarine movie, and he'd only seen Red October. Still, it is a very exciting film. It's based on a novel.
