Comments: This is the story of the service history of Audie Murphy, "the most decorated Army soldier in the history of the United States". The film begins with Audie working full-time to support his mother and siblings at the age of twelve years. His father is portrayed as fighting in the War, but has really deserted his family. When his mother dies and the state takes responsibility of his sibilings, he joins the U.S. Army, after being rejected by the Marines and the Navy. He excels in the Army.

There are few men who distinguished themselves like Mr. Murphy. The scene with him holding off advancing Nazis atop a burning tank is amazing, and true. After his service, he became an actor. Was there anything that this man couldn't do well? I like the M1 Garand under the ending credits. Recommended!
