Title (Year): The Law and Jake Wade (1958) Age: 66 yearsGRS Rating: 5 of 5
Infractions: None. Comments: The film opens with a man breaking another out of jail. Clearly, they are colleagues. But when Jake Wade tells Clint not to follow him, or else he'll shoot him; we know these are no longer friends. Mr. Wade has given up his outlaw ways. It's kind of a shame, because Clint follows him back to home. This Western is based on a novel. I really enjoyed the scenes set in the ghost town--the bulk of the movie. The Comanches aren't favorably shown; however, I wouldn't be surprised if the truth is depicted. It was filmed in Death Valley, specifically Badwater and Zabriskie Point. There is a Monument Valley backdrop in one of the camping scenes. Also, the Sierras near Lone Pine, California feature prominently. DeForest Kelley plays a good villain. Recommended! |
