This crazy film is one that I grew up with. It's even better now!

The first scene with John Candy is clearly an homage to Heavy Metal. In fact, the scenes with "rebel" spaceships pay respect to this film. Really, this film is a parady of Star Wars.

Good tribute to Wrigley's bubble gum twins. There are also references for those who have lived in the Southland. There are references to classic movies like Down Periscope, Lawrence of Arabia, Willy Wonka, the original Planet of the Apes. If you haven't seen this film, then you need to see it! You can watch it at ludicrous speed...
