Comments: The first World War, or the Great War, is in a stalemate. Soldiers man trenches waiting for the other army to attack. But neither do, so life goes on. A young man enlists in the army and requests being posted in a high-school friend's company. He doesn't expect to find his friend--who's sweet on his sister--to be ravaged by war. What will he write to his sister?

Many stories have been written about the second "Great" war. Not that many have been told about the war of alliances, triggered by the death of Franz Ferdinand. I found that this film presented a good representation of life in "trench" warfare. The film is based on a novel.
