Comments: A high school senior girl decides to take off the next year. She doesn't know what she wants to do with her life and doesn't want to waste time in college. As the film progresses, the audience discovers a deeper reason behind her choice. Will she find resolution?

This film started out in such a way that I wondered how drunk I was when I added it to my Netflix queue. I kept watching and was rewarded as the film morphed into a study of an individual trying to deal with a difficult upbringing. In fact, the style reminds me of Skins.

Just when I thought that the character was growing and realizing her humanity, the film abruptly changes. (I was hoping that she could understand that the world doesn't revolve around her, and maybe, spearhead a movement in her generation!) The climax isn't reinforced by a resolution, which may be why the before-mentioned transition confused me. Still, this film probably strikes a chord with young women everywhere. This film was written and directed by the same woman who wrote the novel. Britt Robertson looks great throughout. Oh yeah, that's why I rented this film!
