Comments: Sarah Winchester, the widow of a owner of Winchester Repeating Firearms, buys a small house in San Jose, California. She has builders working continuously on the house until it is a half-built mansion full of hallways and stairs. The rifle company enlists a psychiatrist to determine if the widow is insane. What he witnesses while staying at her mansion makes him question his own sanity.

This fiction is based on an actual person and house. I've visited the Winchester Mystery House. It's an unusual place with short steps leading to dead ends. The clever devices around the mansion are impressive, too. This film does a wonderful job portraying both the house and the woman. It's also a very good horror film. Filmed in Melbourne, Australia. Recommended.
