Comments: This movie describes a new aspect of the space race. The focus is three black women who contributed to an unspoken, but very important, part of early space travel: computing. Yes, these women, along with many others, made hand calculations that allowed successful space travel. The three women went on to make invaluable contributions in areas that were formerly unattainable.
What a fun movie! It's inspirational and human. These three woman broke just as many barriers as NASA in the early '60s. Of course, there's probably a lot of dramatization created translating the novel into a film. Still, they made it possible for John Glenn in Friendship 7 to orbit the earth, and contributed to future missions.
