Comments: The film opens with a family springing one of their number from the local jail. Also, a rich developer is forcing the foreclosure on house mortgages in the Goon Docks section of Astoria, Oregon to expand his country club. Meanwhile, a group of Goon-Dock children finds a treasure map. Hoping to pay off their parents' mortgages, they set off in search of the treasure. An epic adventure results!

I grew up with this film. Mr. Spielberg ensured that it's one that was essential to the definition of a generation. It's also really a time capsule of mid-80s, middle-class America. Other aspects make it notable like showcasing the first unibody Jeep Cherokee--a basis for future 4x4s/SUVs--, the Dave Grusin instrumental soundtrack and contemporary pop hits like Cyndi Lauper. All the characters are memorable for their distinctive personalities. This is a great film! Highly recommended!
