Comments: In the near future, a mission is set to found a permanent colony on Mars. The dreamer behind the mission, unfortunately, cannot go because of a potential health problem. However, he has recruited a small group of astronauts who plan to spend several months establishing the colony. En route, the mission leader is discovered to be pregnant. She delivers a boy shortly after landing. She dies in childbirth, and the boy is raised by scientists on Mars. As a teenager, the boy starts communicating with a girl on earth.

This cute boy-meets-girl film can boast a true, long distance relationship. The film is a bit slow to get going. It is worth watching the lengthy introduction, though. Young Butterfield does a very good job, as I expected. Miss Robertson presents the headstrong, tomboy-with-a-soft-heart character that has become her typecast. This film could have done with more editing; but, it's still an enjoyable film with a good message.
