Infractions: None. Comments: Sent from the external countries called the Outlands, a private eye visits Alphaville. He claims to be a reporter but it's obvious he is not. In the futuristic Alphaville he is learns that a computer runs everything and is slowly destroying humanity. Could the machine be planning something even larger? This '60s, French neo-noir takes a bit to get going and to make sense. The style is odd and like Orwell's 1984. It also explores what could happen if computers are allowed to make decisions. This film inspired Blade Runner and The Terminator. There are other influences in popular culture. This film is a classic. |
