Comments: The film opens with a 11-year-old declaring, to her video camera, that she will commit suicide on her 12th birthday because the world around her is trite and superficial. She also decides to record the final one-hundred-odd days of her life to explain her decision. This intelligent and creative young girl has reason when we see her everyday life. However, that changes when a suave, elderly, Japanese man moves into her Parisian apartment building. He also makes a strong impression on the superintendent of the building. Will it be enough for the girl to cancel her early exit?

This French film is beautifully made. The three main characters are deep, lovable, and "grow" during the course of this film. The performances of the two female actresses are impressive. Also, I enjoyed how "menial" jobs are viewed by the rich. Isn't every job an important job? I recommend this wonderful French film, which is based on a novel!
