Comments: As the nuclear weapons are being dismantled, a bacteriological and chemical war is launched. The result is apocalypse. Men are wiped out and the remaining women fight over scraps. Any semblance of order may be found in the camp controlled by the "Reverend Mother".

When a breeder and her assistant escape with the latest unborn brood, a woman-hunt is initiated. The breeder is captured and absorbed, the brood is destroyed; but the innocent assistant escapes! With the help of a seasoned sand trapper, this assistant is able to provide the greatest offense against the, now obviously, maniacal "Reverend Mother".

This synopsis may sound complicated and deep. The movie really isn't. Essentially, it's just an excuse to watch barely-clothed, attractive women run around, shoot guns, drive off-road vehicles, and partake in cat fights, all in the deserts of southern California. Need I say more?

There is some merit because the themes are important. Is genetic manipulation ethical? Would life change if civilization suddenly ended? And the evergreen: does absolute power corrupt absolutely?

But one cannot escape the reality. The opening and closing scenes are of a scantily-clad and lovely woman on horseback. That's Phoenix the Warrior.
