Comments: A couple, who are engaged to be married, are vacationing in Haiti when they encounter an unusual man with a troop of zombies, at least according to the carriage driver! It's learned that zombies are employed by the strange man at a local grist mill. The couple are staying at the house of a wealthy island man who put them together. However, the man wants the girl for himself and enlists the mill owner's help. Will he use voodoo magic to "win" the girl, and will her new husband suspect anything?

This is reputed to be the first zombie film. It's very different than today's zombie films: no blood or violence with a focus on the characters and story instead of the monsters. The faces in this movie are funny, too. The sets are contemporary large-scale productions. This public-domain film is worth watching.
