Comments: This film may follow the novel, for which it's named, less the zombies obviously. I wouldn't know for sure. The film scores high for period costume, but it's far from it in the portrayal of the characters.

That's OK. I haven't read this particular Jane Austen novel but I know it is--if it's like the others--not overly exciting. Her novels are a trial in boredom followed by knitting and a few shy questions, and then a bit of feminism. Fortunately, this film captures the audience and moves along Austen's (probably overly) romantic plot with ease. Also, there's an obvious "girl power" theme in this film, but it hasn't overwhelmed the film.

Of course, the movie is not without faults. I do not like how zombie films are becoming "mainstream", and thus are falling prey to "studio magic", which in current terms, suggests that chaos is cool.

Overall, this film is enjoyable. Miss James quietly stands out. Matt Smith is comical and yet serious. The film is a bold step and worth seeing.
