Comments: John Steinbeck's novel comes alive on the silver screen. In this tale, the black-sheep son of a modest farmer in California comes of age. He's from a broken house, which has disrupted his growth. But, as he learns about his past, he becomes more content with the parent that he grew up with.

I have yet to read this classic; however, if it is anything like this film, it's still powerful today. This film is human and touching. It presents a timeless story with hopes that the conclusion is good enough. Recommended.
