Comments: A very arrogant American producer hires a struggling playwright to re-write a movie that he's producing. Of course, the elderly, successful director has to go along with the change. The rub comes when the playwright takes a bit too long to arrive for the first formal meeting, leaving his gentle wife alone in the hands of the producer. Will this come to bite him in the ass?

This French film pretty much opens with video of Ms. Bardot's figure. I began to wonder if there was a plot, or if any was necessary (she has good plot)! But there was a real story.

This is the only film that I've seen with vocalized credits. Yes, a narrator enumerated the hired help at the beginning of the film. Cool. Or "far out."

The villa on Capri that was used to film was in poor repair, or in disuse; but what a setting! Could a similar structure be built today? Probably not. This French satirical film is classic just for being subtle and a time-capsule of the '60s.
