Comments: An eldely, housebound whaler grudgingly recalls a tale to a mostly-unknown author by the name of Herman Melville. This tale, allegedly, is the inspiration for Moby Dick because it describes a scarred, white sperm whale that destroys a Nantucket whaling boat in the Pacific. How much is true?
The movie is, of course, beautifully filmed. The acting is excellent, if from a non-Nantucket cast! The allusions to the modern oil industry are overwhelming, if you are paying attention. This is a very enjoyable film.
