Comments: A young teenaged boy is marooned in the Canadian forest when the pilot of his Cessna has a heart attack and dies. Forced to survive in the wild, he grows up. He also comes to terms with his parents' divorce.

This film fairly closely follows Hatchet, the award winning young adult novel. It should because the author also wrote the screenplay! It was filmed in the Sierra Nevadas in California so it's not quite right. But the scenery is lovely, and looks like Convict Lake. Not a bad family film, if a bit dated.
